Our beloved father, Edward Henry Lyons of Monaca followed his heart on February 27, 2023 to reunite with his loving wife, Dolores, of 61 years. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Monaca, he was born on July 2, 1934 and married his devoted wife Dolores (Crapis) on August 4, 1956. Edward was a son of the late Frank R. Lyons, Sr. and Sophia (Olash) Gates.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores in November, 2017; brother Frank Lyons and sister in law, Rose Lyons.
After graduating from High School, he served in the U S Army as Corporal in the Signal Core division during the Korean War. Following his service for our country, Edward retired after 33 years of employment from the Pittsburgh Tube Company in Monaca. Edward was known for his prowness on the duck pin lanes. He traveled many weekends to Pittsburgh to compete in duck pin tournaments. Edward was also an avid golfer and a 50 year member of Monaca PNA golf league. He was a lifetime member of the PNA and American Legion both of Monaca. Edward proudly attended every sporting event of his children and grandchildren. A fond memory of Edward was his seat on the hillside at Monaca Stadium on Friday nights. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca. Edward had a gift to make family and friends laugh during gatherings.
Edward is survived by a daughter, Terri and (Tom) Dishler; four sons Mike and (Karen), Mark and (Diane), Gary, Eddie and (Laynie); brothers Robert (Sharon) Lyons of Industry and John (Sandy) Gates of Monaca.
“Pappy” will continue to cherish his 10 grandchildren: Krystal (Terry) Patrick, Matt (Ashlee) Lyons, Eli, Marcus, Carter, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Parker, Logan, Max and one great-grandchild, Jayonna.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 3rd from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am at Mary, Queen of Saints parish (St John the Baptist Catholic Church), Monaca. Interment with military honors by the Beaver County Special Unit will immediately follow at 10:45 am at the parish cemetery..
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff and the Good Samaritan Hospice Care at Heritage Valley of Beaver.
